I have a audi b5 2000 reg, i'm looking to replace the bulbs can someone confirm to me that the bulbs i need are H7 for the main, dipped and fogs and W5W for the side lights? As the guy at the shop seemed to be in a bit of puzzle as to what bulbs my car needs....

Sounds about right for the main, dipped and sidelights. Not had to change the fogs but think they might be H7 also. Try following the links to some of the site sponsors that supply bulbs (or a goodle search). Some of them have the details for most makes and models. You may save a few quid buying them there as well...

I've always used powerbulbs.com, they are really helpfull and offer good discounts! Thought i'd change all the bulbs at the front so they all look the same! I went for philips X-treme power bulbs as i've heard they are good can anyone back this up?

the side light bulbs might be c5w (bayonet fitting) not 5w5 (wedge bulbs), well they are on my 2000 1.8t q s anyway. just changed the main and foglight bulbs too, they are h7 (hid dipped beam for me though!). i used philips ultra blue h7s, (ebay, £10.49 a pair) very good too. and some led c5w bulbs (also ebay, about £4 a pair) for sidelights, nice bright white light like the hid's. the bayonet fitting was slightly different though, the standard ones are an offset bayonet, and on the ones i got the knoby bits were directly opposite each other of you know what i mean? still fitted fine though, but i suppose get the offset ones if you can. easiest way to check is to just take one out and have a look, very easy.
