Hi Guys I am a newbie, I'm having an ongoing problem with my Passat T/98 1.8 20V SE, APT engine. It has a problem with idling when warm, normally only after a long journey.
After a long journey back in July, the car started having problems with rough idle. After investigating I noticed I had melted two breather pipes which lead to the throttle body. I replaced these and it altered nothing, I changed the MAF filter, but nothing, I cleaned the TB but nothing again. I have had it on VAG COM by a VW specialist but they only found some old faults which were cleared. This is now becoming very frustrating . I am going to replace the Coolant temp sender, but I can't find where to buy them with out going to VW dealer, any suggestions?
Also another question is..... there is a part on the engine which is broken, but I don't know what its called or where to get it. It is a little plastic arm located behind a flat plastic cover parrallel with the throttle body at the front of the engine. I think it is part of the rocker cover and has something to do with the air flow? I am sure this is playing a huge part in the problem with the idle. I thought it would be a common fault but can't find anything on here about this part.
Sorry for the long post, would be really grateful if someone knows the answers and could help me out??
Cheers Lee
