    Can anyone help?

I'm after a remap for my pd 115 bora. I live in newcastle and everyone round about wants between £375- £600. This seems a bit steep me thinks

I got a quote from "supertuning" who said they'll come and do it for £275. has anybody used the or can recommend anyone else within 20-30mile radius of newcastle who's prices are competitive? or who offers a mobile service.

I've tried DPM at Rowlands Gill and just diesel at Blaydon

i want it done within the next two weeks so if there's anyone who can offer this service or knows a company that does greatly appreciatted

    cheers for the

I don't trust these drive down the road remappers, I lad I know has got a Starlet GT and had one of these guys come out to map it. Anyway, he took it down the road and came back with a blown turbo and blamed it on the component being worn and wouldn't foot the bill.
The poor kid had to buy himself a new turbo and personally I'm pretty sure he changed the map for too much boost and it went pop, but where do you stand when they refuse to take the blame?

You get what you pay for. I would get it done on a dyno.

ok bods so no one lives in the north east and can't recommend a reputable comapny in NE at least. What about tuning boxes? Any body give the name of a reputable company. DTUK are in my area and wouldn't mind buying from them anyone on here had any experience?

Stay away from tuning boxes...all they do is crudely over fuel...I speak from experience.

A remap is the only way to get a reliable increase in power, but don't go to the absolute max your engine will go to, always best to leave a few horsepower in reserve. Remap too much and you'll just end up with worn out parts (clutrch etc) and probably lots of error codes.

Yes, even the digital ones. A proper remap is the best way. For the most reliable mapping, you need a custom remap, rather than just a generic one, that way the car's behaviour can be tailored to how you want it.

Personally, I have considered remaps etc in the past, but with the cost of running a car being what it is these days, and the amount of traffic on the roads, ultimately I couldn't justify £350-£500 on a remap just for a bit more power which I'd hardly ever use. 115hp is enough for me. Also, if you use the extra power available, fuel consumption will increase, thus costing even more to run the car.

I totally agree above. Plus your insurance will go up and if you crash the car and havnt declared the remap then your claim would most likly be void....

All in all Id prefer a reliable 115 over a remapped one any day...If you are remapping then you obviously want to use the extra power alot of the time, hence your clutch will not last too long especially if its already worn, the remap will expose this straight away....

I previously had a mapped 100 pd tdi and drove it to its potential after the remap, I wanted to use the power i paid for!

The clutch was fine for about 2000 miles then started to rattle when depressed and eventually gave in and had to replace it...

You have to weigh up the pros and cons and there are defo alot more cons to a remap IMO.

By the way my remapped passat 100 pd ( remap to 135 and 300 nm ) was still not as quick as my current 130 tdi 6 speed bora..... Especially from 80 mph-100 and onwards Bigger 130pd turbo and injectors are always gona win over a remapped 90/100/115 tdi , and win with regard to reliability also.

All said if you got the dosh and are prepared to take the risk then go for it!!
