Bought Ibis white 2 litre tdi s line about 3 weeks ago. Just clocked up first 1000 miles. First impressions are that it is a well put together piece of kit. Comfortable and economical, doing about 48 mpg according to computer. White is the new black and it looks very stylish. No 'posh' extras but the interior is still nice and comfortable, good seats, even with the offset pedals. Nice engine and gearbox, very quiet for a diesel. Only downside is that the ride seems very choppy especially on uneven surfaces. Is this due to the sports suspension or is it me just getting used to it. Overall though it turns heads and the lights look very intimidating. Great!

I think the ride can be a bit choppy. Assuming you have 18 inch on 20mm or do you have the firmer 30mm?

I find sometimes the car does tramline (not as bad as my BMW with run flats!) and the steering wheel does pull you about a bit but Im wondering if its taking me awhile to get use to a front wheel drive only car again or simply the low profile tyres feeling the road a bit more.

I get low 20mpg on trip to work but did get low 40s out of the 1.8 160 on a long motorway trip. Ive done 1500 miles now.

I think the interior is great and it does a good job of cocooning (?) you as I often forget just how wide and long the B8 is.

I agree with you about the car looking agressive/intimidating with its lowered setup and those little lips that stick out at the bottom.

I also think the standard 10 speaker/sub/amp stereo is great and out performs the kit you will find in BMW or Merc as standard

good colour choice. The Sline looks particularly good in white. especially on 19" rims. cant speak for the ride as mine is an SE and rides pretty well

I'm happy with the std hi-fi as well. not quite as good as the Volvo i had previously, but good enough for my needs

agreed, the ride can get a bit choppy, is this common on all font wheel drives? (I've had rear wheel drive before)

I agree, the stereo is very good and the sd card is a lot better than carting cds about. My car has standard 18 inch wheels. I think wider tyres make the car 'tramline' and front wheel drive gives some torque stear if the power is used aggressively. I've converted from mercedes and agree that the standard spec on the A4 is better than the C class. Rear wheel drive is a lot different to the A4 and I think mercedes sport suspension is a little softer than Audi. That said I think all German cars have a firm ride. Can anyone tell me if the 3 series BMW is the same. The photo looks just like mine, I'll try and upload some pics, but not sure how to at the moment

For photos try something like photobucket.com, create an account and upload your photos. Then youll get some [IMG] code, just copy and paste that into your post and it will link out to the image.

3 series is renowned for a harsh ride. especially if its on run-flat tyres or big rims, or both

Agree with Richard. I had a one series with Run Flats on 17 inch wheels. The car had a mind of its own, darting across the motorway lane tramlining, feeling everything in the road ( I also had Sport suspension which didnt help). 3 series was exactly the same. It was all very well being rear wheel driver but it just pushed the front wheels into the holes and bumps into the road and the front wheels would just go where they wanted. It was a constant fight on some roads to keep the steering wheel straight.

In some of the BMW forums people change to normal tyres or from one brand to another in order to resolve the drive. Stupid really.
