    Hi

I think my multitronic has failed, suffered complete loss of drive on Sunday, had the car towed to an audi dealer, as did not know what else to do at the time.

Waiting on the diagnosis, however I have had a quote from a company in Bradford, RS Transmissions for a reconditioned box with 12 months warranty, and fitted for £1600.

Has anyone used them suffice to say it is a great deal cheaper than a new box off audi which I believe is around £4500.

Any prior experience would be appreciated.

    Paul

Cheers for the advice, I did see them but it was the distance putting me off.

Anyway, the cars has done about 75000 miles, and up until the last service had full vag service history, + it had the gearbox oil changed at 31k when it had a new gearbox ecu and just recently at 73000, about 2k overdue.

Lake district audi rang me this morning to tell me they had diagnosed the fault and it needed a new hearbox at £4500, however they then went on to say that audi would foot 50% of the bill (this was something I expected I would have to make a fuss about to get)

So cost for new box is £2250.

Not great, but a damn site better than £4500 and I get a new box with some warranty.

So my advice is to anyone else in a similar situation is to push for audi to pay for some of the cost, as these gearboxes shouldnt be failing after 70k miles, especially when they have been maintained as audi suggest.

I think I will probably sell this car before the warranty on the new gearbox runs out, I love the multitronic, smoothest auto I have ever owned, but 2k+ for a repair is too much.
