    1.9tdi 110 with 127000 miles. Previous 1.8 20v turbo with 136000 miles. Godd solid engines if looked after.

    our A6 1.9TDI with the AFN 110 HP engine has almost 180,000 on the clock and still going strong with regular servicing. just make sure all the belts are checked.

    general rule of thumb (i gotta stop saying that) .... for any car....look after it well, it will pay you back tenfold. a well serviced VAG engine will go on in excess of 200k, the diesel engines are such strong engines, its just a matter of keeping them properly serviced and as has already been said, keep the belts tight and an eye on the relevant tensioners, always change them in accordance with guidelines.

    a mate has a 1997 110 afn engine on 470k and its still pulling like a new car, hence i entered the TDI world!

    The vw TDI engines are designed to work for about 30000 hours, before needing major overhaul. Given an average of over 40 Miles an hour, it equates to over 1200000 Miles. By that time, the rest of the car will be a pile of junk ...There are cars out there that passed the milion miles treshold, one of them beeing a petrol Saab and a few 1970/80 mercedes diesels .
