    Hi,

I have an '06 plate passat tdi sport. The front and rear 12v sockets aren't working but the 12v boot socket works fine with the ignition on.

    I've searched around and found:

    "SD33 - Fuse 33 on fuse holder D 20A - U5 - 12 V socket"

I couldn't see a fuse in this slot and when I put a 20A fuse in it still didn't work.

Can anyone suggest what/where the problem might be?

    Thanks

On the 3BG Passats these fuses were behind the knee bolster in the lower dash area - no idea on the B6 though

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

I know that the BOOT 12v socket is fuse 33 (second fuse in from left about 3rd or 4th row up) in the drivers side board at the end of dash, the other front ones are meant to be 35 two fuses to the right, however as yours mine has no fuse in it???????

I even went out to checkthe book and rip the fuse cover off - now i am confused

i will look a bit more to see if i can suss it out, i know it confued me a little when i needed a ign switched live when fitted a parrot kit, i tapped into the boot 12V socket (fuse 33 drivers side), but the layout in the book seemed wrong. I think from memory they seemed back to front.

    Good look

Spoke to a decent service manager (for a change) who took the car round to the workshop, and 5 minutes later came back with working sockets!!!!

Previous owner specified "non-smokers" pack - so you don't get the fuse to make the internal sockets work.

Don't know which fuse socket/number it was as I was in shock from fix being "free of charge" from dealership!

    Passat b5.5,

I have exactly the same problem which I posted on here a couple of days ago. If you do find out what fuse they put in to correct the problem, can you let me know. I too found that the layout of the fuse boards in the manual seemed nothing like the ones in the car. Which dealership did you go to, because when I went to my local one (bromley) they did the usual 'you will have to book it in and it is at least twenty quid to changes fuse'.

Any help will greatly appreciated and also stop the missus getting lost because we have no power for the satnav!!

    Firesharpe.

Should be 35. Stick a fuse in and see if they work. If it's wrong it's not going to do any harm.

    Firesharpe...

I used a multi-meter and checked all the fuses! Tried a couple of times to put a fuse in a "recommended" socket with NO luck. I will try and call the service manager in the morning and try and post exact fuse number in the evening (and which side -driver/passenger). Sympathies with the missus and the satnav (been there!).

Service manger has moved on!!! Typical, you find a good one...

Phoned Stratford Dealership who advised fuse is on driver side (would need to see vehicle to confirm exact details).

Anyhow... I Popped the cover off the driver side fuse box. There's a 20A fuse in number 35. Same as other posters here advised.

It's about 3 rows up from the bottom and 2nd from the left (it's one of the few empty ones with 2 metal contacts inside?).

I took it out both cabin 12v sockets stopped working.

If this doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. Good Luck.

On models where it's not passenger side 35, It should be drivers side 38 or 41 depending on year. So a fuse in one of these should bring the lighter sockets to life. Good luck
