can't afford a replacement car at the moment so I think I'm going to go with the remap. Found a company in my area who will do a custom remap on the road and tune it as to how i want.

I just want to beat my father in laws 130 bora, sick of being second in acceleration. Childish I know

Chances are you might beat him to 60 bu after that hel catch and pass you.. 130s usually put out 140-150 hp as standard..... And they pull alot better than the 115 at higher speeds due to the larger injectors and turbo....

Good luck with the custom remap, hope it holds up for you afterwards! Oh I also hope you have traction control !!

Sounds like you're a 'spirited' driver. So I would also seriously look at what damage a remap will do to other components ie clutch, if you frequently rev hard and use all the power.

You'll end up paying £400 for a remap, then £400 for a new clutch, then probably have flywheel problems and so on. Ofcourse, it depends how much spaer cash you have and how much you're prepared to throw at the car!

i wouldn't say spirited but i do enjoy the sudden surge of boost you get with the tdi (my first). I've got to be honest the car is pretty quick off the lights as it is. 6speed gear box means i can keep up with a vrs from a standing start (not something i do a lot of though!)

your right i could be looking at a grand remap + once you start thinking of clutch flywheel and the dreaded labour cost. Clutches not a job I would like to do myself. Though I do believe the 6speed has the same clutch as the 130pd so fingers crossed.

gbrad2x commented on larger injectors and turbo. Would I see any real performance gains by just changing the injectors as a turbo is going to be expensive?
