I have recently had major work done on my Golf Mk5 Fsi - cambelt and cylinder head replaced. When I got the car back I looked in the engine, it looked like there was a cover missing from the back of the engine. The VW garage told me that it is perfectly normal and there never was a cover on this back section of the engine. Also there are bolt holes that don't seem to have bolts in them. Please excuse my ignorance here but I can't remember what the engine looked like before it went to the garage.
Can anyone please confirm or not what the garage are saying ? Also does anyone else have a similar Golf who could add a photo of their engine so that I could compare. Thanks.

After mine went in for repairs the car had some noticeable marks on the windows and the engine cover loose at the ends which looks like a few bolts or screws missing.

Can anyone also confirm it it's suppose to be loose?

Could well me lazy put back together I guess.
