2005 VW Golf 1.6 fsi se MK 5. 31.000 Miles. When I start the car the readout is telling me to " SERVICE NOW ".
I only bought the car a couple of months ago and checked the white sticker on the inside of drivers door for when the next service is due which says January 2009 or 38.000 miles whichever comes first and I've reached neither. Has some kind of problem been detected or can I ignore the " SERVICE NOW " until Jan 2009 when the service is actually due.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Does the "SERVICE NOW" means the car needs the scheduled service part or the other "SERVICE NOW" as when something is faulty and needs to be checked out?
In any case take it to your nearest VW dealer to check it out or reset it.
