    Hi,

A friend of mine pointed out that I don't have the cover that tidies up the top part of the engine across the battery. The long plastic over that runs from left to right.

I had no idea about this and peered in.

The battery is sat in an inch of water along with all other pipes etc that runs along that part of the engine.

It's just like a big sealed bowl.

Should there be water in there? There isnt anywhere for it to drain.

Does the cover ensure water doesnt flow down from the window and into this section?

    Cheers.

There are 2 drain holes at the bottom of this bay that have probably become bunged up. You need to clear these out otherwise that water will eventually find its way into the car and flood your ECU. I know because its just happened to me about 4 weeks ago and i'm still trying to sort it out.

I had to remove the battery to get to the bungs.

    good luck.

(hope someone replies to my question this quick!!)

Mine is a 98' A6. When I disconected the battery no alarm went off but I have had to get my ECU re programmed. I'm not sure if that is because of the water that got into it or because of the battery. Audi mechanic said it was the battery but seems a bit excessive from just disconnecting it.
    cheers

    £12.55 for the cover.

ONLY ISSUE NOW is that when I remove the battery to see what lies underneath, what's going to happen to the Audi systems when I plug is back in.

    Radio code loss and...... ?

The later B6 A4's don't come with the cover.Audi must have thought they'd save a little money on the run out models

I have the small cover on the far right of the battery.

The other cover that fits over the top of the batt and across the left is missing.

Audi said it does need one.

My only query now is what will happen when I disconnect the batt.
