    HI there,
I need a bit of advice....

In the rescent cold weather i went to my car and the rear washer jet had stopped working , i assumed that the line was frozen: BUT it's not worked since.

Has the line popped at a join somewhere? If so where should i start looking? I can hear the pump opperating when i try to use the washer jet, so i dont think that it can be a pump issue ?

    What car is it?
My Passat had this problem a few months back. What happens is the line freezes at the jet, so when you try to use it, the pressure pops the joint. If it's a Passat it's just by the light cluster in the wheel change tool compartment. You'll see a little black 'nipple' with the tube hanging close by. Just push it back on.
You will need to get some rags to suck up the water that has been squirted into the bottom of the compartment. Don't leave it there, it may smell bad, or cause some much worse problems. It may help to remove the tool holder to give you more access.

Your pipe will probably go into the tailgate where the loom does. Try looking behind the trim panel on the inside of the tailgate, this happened on my son's MK 3 Golf and all it took was a thin piece of wire to clear a blockage. Yours may have popped off, which I suppose they are designed to do to prevent any problems if frozen. Our old Mondeos at work did this at the washer bottle end when it was cold so that the pipe didn't blow water into the car.

Hi, this happened on my old Mk4 GTi, I tried washing the rear screen when the ket was frozen and it popped the pipe off inside the boot lid

If you take the trim off inside the boot lid you will see where it has come off and my advise would be to put it back on and secure with a zip-tie

I would also do this quickly as I left mine and it leaked into the boot lock resulting in the car thinking the boot was always open which set the alarm off when I locked the car!

    Hope this helps

    Hi there,

Just to follow up, i couldnt manage to get the boot lid trim completely off (didnt want to force it)... So as i could just see in behind it and could clearly make out that the hose had popped off inside.

I did manage to relocate the hose by squeezing my arm inside BUT although i tested it straight away it didnt take long until it has popped off again . So i will need to try and dismantle it again and give it another go (when i have time! ). If i could only get the trim off completely i would be able to tie-wrap the hose in place.

Is this trim likely to break if i give it a firm hand??

    Hi

it's a year or so since I did the same job and I think you do need to apply a bit of pressure to take the trim off

Have you undone all the visable screws? (I think there could be some hidden inside the inner grab handle(s)???)

Obvioulsy I don't want to tell you to give it a yank and break any brackets etc!

    Cheers
