Where is the best cheap place for brake pads?
Also, the brake pad warning/chime goes of every now and then, sometimes when i start the car, and sometimes after a few miles.

Does this mean that the warning light will stay on all the time soon, or is the car that clever that it only needs to tell you once?

    Cheers.....

try halfords, or your local motorfactors for some pads, but dont get any really cheap nasty ones its not worth it, they wotnt last as long, and wont stand up to any big stops as well (even if they are eceREG 90 approved they only have to be within 15% of the OE stopping distance, so some can just sneak in)

or try your local tps - http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/ offical VAG parts outlet, normally pretty cheap.

Ive had bad ones from GSF before, and halfords are very cheap if you can get a trade card - you only need a small link to the trade to get one,

and the TPS you can just walk in, you dont have to be trade they sell to the public too, just go to your local place and go to the sales counter, job done, if your feeling really cheeky ask for a "trade cash sale" and quote a local garage. you maye get away with it, so long as your paying cash.

GSF do supply several different grades from budget up to fast road. I've always used the Pagid pads from GSF and never had a bad set.

I tried their budget, not worth the hassle as they glaized over, even with drilled discs! my last good set on my golf estate was some mintex normal pads with ate power discs, very good for normal use - but dont use them on track....I had a set on my mk1 track car and they were even worse than the gsf basic pads on track lol.
