We placed an order last week for a new A3 sportback at that point the dealer told us the delivery time was 6-8 weeks i.e. end Nov to the beggining of Dec.

However had a call today from the dealer and the system has been updated to Week 49 which is the end Dec begging of Jan

What a complete bugger, we were hoping to take it you europe over xmas and new year, but he's hopeful this may come down.

    So a couple of questions:

    1. Is anyone else wating for a new A3, what kind of delivery times have you been quoted.
    2. What's the likelyhood this time frame will come down, or is that just dealer talk to stop us moaning to much.

    Thanks,

    Jason

i know the delivery of a 1.4 s-line you'll be told DEC/JAN but won't get it till next march. Was gonna get a new one, but the waiting time is long, so renewed the cars warrant and gonna get 2 more years out of it and get an ex-demo.

Delivery lists are looking long for this new shape A3...So Jan sounds about right...

I've got a 1.8 Sportback Sport on order since mid August. I was told October when I ordered it, but its been delayed and now has a build week of 48. So should get it just before Christmas.

I'm hoping it will turn up early too, but I don't hold out much hope!

I placed my order on 4 July and was told fairly early that week 41 was pencilled in for the build but could well move forward.

I heard a fortnight ago that week 41 had been confirmed - week 41 is this week so fingers crossed they've finally pushed the button on it!

In your position, I might be asking for March delivery just to get the new reg as by the time yours is built and delivered, it will probably be nearly February anyway.

Fair point, but a couple of issues with this.

Between now and march the wifes car is due an MOT and sods law this is the year it needs a load of work to get through (its not in the best of shape and has done a fair few miles).

Also because of their sales deadlines they offered us a fairly good deal on a pre-bult car....sadly because of a cockup with their system after we placed the order and paid the deposit they found out that it had been sold and the system hadn't been updated. They agreed to match the spec/price for a new build, although we weren't to dissapointed as it meant we could add the options we wanted.

My concern would be that if we tried to delay it it's gonna impact on the deal we agreed and also the part ex value the offered us for the wifes car.

The sales guy has promised to keep us updated weekly and i think the next time he calls i'll indicate that if the delivery time slips any further we are likely to cancel and take our money elsewhere.

Oh and one final issue with this....the wife wants her new car and i don't think i could put up with the ear bashing if i told her she had to wait till march.

All very good reasons for not asking for a March delivery if you can get one towards the end of January!! Good luck - I hope it gets here sooner rather than later.

(By then Audi might be offering 0% finance anyway. Look here: http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2/Fi...soloution.html

According to a post on another forum, this offer is available across the whole A3 range but not the S3. Just thought I'd throw that in )

No, just 6% at the moment but that's still a good offer. Now I'm in a real quandary trying to decide whether to cancel the bank loan I've got for the balance on the new car. When I took out the loan 2 weeks ago, it was a better rate than the best I could get from the dealer but obviously even Audi is being affected by the current economic panic .....

Ah ok...will keep a eye on that.

0% would temp me.....but we wanted the flexibility of being able to pay extra when required so are using a flexible loan we have in place. Interest is higher, but it allows up to pay larger amounts as and when so our aim is to pay any extra cashwe have throughtout the year and that in conjuction with a healthy deposit should hopefully see it paid off in a year. Fingers Crossed.
