The nice things that happen in life

Evenin' all

My Grandads anniversary is coming up next week and I was sat thinking about him this morning when I was sat in traffic.

Anyway, it made me recall a really nice moment in life that has always stuck with me.

On year, when I ws 16, big family BBQ, Grandad cooking - wouldnt let ANYONE else near his precious!

Anyway......about an hour in I hear:

"David, can you come and cook please. I think you are ready........"

Sounds silly and nothing but I was the ONLY person ever to that he allowed to do it.

Anyway, the reason for this thread is to recall the nice things in life that have happened. Obviously having our kids etc goes without saying, this isnt for that. This is for the other stuff which makes you feel warm when you think about it!

Getting home and getting a nice big grin from my 9 month old daughter. Thinking of it makes the rush hour a lot more bearable.

Seeing the excited look on a dog's face as it sticks its head out of a moving car's window.

Sitting down to watch some crap on the TV with the wife and kids - doesn't happen often enough but it makes me "aaaaaaaaah"

My daughter when she was 2 tripped over head putted a raise man hole cover and put her teeth through her tounge and lips. Blood was everywhere.

Naurally we hurtled to A&E at MACH 3 after giving her an ice pop to take the swelling down on her tounge. When i got there i was amazed at a parking spot right at the front but no parking meter in sight. I jumped out to ask the parking attendant where the meter was and he informed me this was the staff car park and i was not allowed to use it.

He then saw my daughter, swelling tounge etc and said and i quote "Get yourself in, 'll keep an eye on your car and dont worr about paying, your daughters more important."

Naturally i thanked said attendant as i was running off. when we finally got out he was still there. When he saw me he nodded, turned round and walked off, i did not even get the chance to thank him as by the time i had her in the car he had gone.

Everytime i think off this i remember the humble bloke who understood the important things in life.
