    Need some info: I converted my vr6 golf from auto to man. The car wont start and the drive light stays on. Do need to reset the computer or join some wires somewhere? Thanks

    I think the ECU and/or instruments need codding because its not getting a signal from the shift lock mechanism and the ECU thinks the gearbox is in drive so it wont start as not to dammage the gearbox. You need to change the codding in any of these controllers. There is a guide on how to on: www.openobd.com . Read the codding options under engine electronics and instrument cluster. However, you will need to use vag-com or similar and all the fault codes will need erasing to see which come back.
