Replacing K03s turbo with K04

This would be on a Audi A4 1.8t quattro sport. Is it a straight forward swap, as i was reading something in the golf magazine and you can apparently get 300 bhp by just swapping and remapping.

I think you need a front mounted intercooler aswell to get near the 300bhp mark.

Well it also stated you could get up to 345 bhp if you fitted a free flow cat downpipe but no mention of a replacement intercooler.

My main issue though is, Is it a straight swap?

If you read the feature again it says that it's a lot of work on your engine for a little gain, the turbo manifold is restrictive and you won't see much gain. For around 300bhp on your engine you need a front mount and either an IHI roller bearing turbo or a Garrett GT2860RS turbo. Unfortunately they both weigh in at about £4000 fitted. Apparently though an earlier non variable valve 20v cylinder head with your current turbo works very well and can see good gains.
