Hi, I was wondering if some one could help??

I've currently got a small electrical problem on my 200 MK 4 Golf GT TDi. When ever the ignition is on there is like a quite clicking noise coming from the passenger side of the dash. It appears to be coming from the glove compartment/Air bag area of the dash and occurs when the car is running or not.

The noise is intermittent and can be heard a low engine speeds i.e. below 30 mph (4th gear and below) I thought at first it may be mechanical but it happens when I’ve got the ignition on. The click has no rhythm and occurs randomly. I have tried to pinpoint the noise but appear to be in the dash. The best way to describe it is like a relay clicking.

All my electrics seem to be working fine and nothing is affected when the noise occurs but it’s bloody annoying. If any one has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Scott

im not being funny when i say this, but does the noise occur at standstill? have you checked the dash for movement/clicking, this could be the noise you describe?

I've checked all the dash to make sure there is nothing rubbing or clicking. I've also emptied the glove box of everything to see if that solved it. From reading some of the posts on this web site it appears that it might be an actuator or something to do with the climatronic?? Could any one verify this and also tell me how to remove the glove box???
