    Hi all

    My first post so I hope someone out thre can help me out. Just took my A3 1.6 for it's annual MOT. Couldn't believe my luck but just as the guy was testing it, it started pouring oily smoke out of the exhaust.

    Oil is fine, recently changed, coolant was tested with no hydrocarbons present. A tiny bit of emulsion on the oil filler cap, but nothing excessive. Car runs fine and only smokes when revved, but smoking badly. I don't think it's the head gasket, more likely a seal somewhere has gone. Has anybody any ideas please.

    I'm thinking valve guides/stem seals , could be time for a head rebuild.
