Help central locking problem?

I have VW Polo GTI on a w plate (yr 2001).

My alarm is working fine but the central locking is not. It does not respond when I press the lock or open buttons on the key pad (the alarm is working fine arms and disarms when pressed). When the key is in either the passenger or driver side door only that door responds by opening or locking the other side does not respond.

Checked the fuse, it is fine. Anyone have any idea? Someone has said to me to check the central locking pump where is it located in the car and how do I get to it?
