went and had a look at a 115 bhp bora the night!! its a nice looking car and all but he said hes gettin about 360 miles to a tank is this not bad even if you were driving hard? its a 5 speed gearbox! also even when i was out on a main road doing 60 mph the dash was reading 35 or so mpg? should it not be more? there was a wee circle sign with a line through it on the left of the 35mpg on the dash? anyone know what this is about?

    any help appreciated!

Hi was it a diesel or petrol model? IIRC the early TDI PD engines had five speed boxes.

With regards to the mpg this would of been the average consumption since the engine was started and will reset itself when the engine has been turned off more than two hours

BTW if a diesel I get between 450 - 550 to a tank, don't know if having six speed box helps

360 miles to a tank I would say is not that good unless the seller is doing very short journeys.

If he was previously driving the car hard then the mile per gallon computer would be down low.. does be in the 40s in my pd 130 if ive been driving it very hard but never 30..

If I was driving mine hard I would get around 450 to a tank (60litres approx) Driven normally I would average around 550 anyway.

I woudl say that car has issues as should be slightly more economical than the pd130....

yeah totally agree mpg appear down. Lots of stop starts through the centre of newcastle my 115pd still returns 40mpg. If in doubt there's always another car

To answer part of the original post the circle with the diagonal line through it indicates an average value for the journey or since last reset, rather than an instantaneouse read out. You should be able to switch between the two.
