could you give a better description of the fault please? does it happen in specific weather conditions, certain doors, etc?

no 'switch' that i know of, it operates on the same kind of system you would find on your fridge for that light... there will be a plastic 'knob' which pushes in when your door closes, this then turns the light off.

id check that isnt stuck in, might be stuck in with c**p, if thats not the problem, your bulb might be loose in the holder, you can prise the actual thing out of the door using a flat edged screwdriver i think, if not you may have to take the door card off and push it out to check, its not that hard really. other than that, there could well be a fault in the wiring, but i doubt it, it sounds as though your bulbs just a bit loose in the holder....

i am refuring to the switch that operates the courtisy lights and the light in the door on my mk4 golf on older cars u would have a switch on the door pillar by the hinges it would work by the door opening and closing pushing the switch on and off
well thesre isnt one on my golf there probably isnt one on yours either have you looked
i found out that the lights are operated by a switch that is built in to the door lock when you open the door the door catch is released and it makes the switch when you close the door then it turns them off have a look see what u got
