PASSAT 1.9 Tdi Sport Saloon - interior light and indicator/lock problem

I have a Passat 1.9 Tdi Sport Saloon 1999 from new. I have had two minor problems with the car at it's 160,000 mile service

1. The rear interior light, passenger side needs replacing. I have been quoted £62.08 to change!

2. When I lock the car with my remote the indicators do not flash. VW say it is a bonnet switch problem? Quoted £71.57 to fix

Can anyone suggest alternative ways...

HI, the rear interior light I'd just get a second hand one from the local breakers or ebay and change it myself not a difficult job,any doubts buy a haynes manual.
The indicators flashing or not on locking dos'nt seam to be a major problem,I got my '98se and it used to flash the lights on locking but dos'nt now,but the alarm is still fully functional and no ill effects seen elsewhere so personally i would'nt worry.
