    What is the Torque setting for the front hub bolt.. 99 Passat 110 tdi. and what is this angular torque lark all about!!!

    I'll have a look in the haynes manual tonight.. I did it recently but can't remember what it was off the top of my head.

    Depending on what size hub bolt you have there are differing torque settings.

    16mm = 140 lb ft Then tighten a further 180 degrees of rotation.
    14mm = 85 lb ft Then tighten a further 180 degrees of rotation.

    Thats what it says in the Haynes manual.

    You can get an adapter that fits onto the square drive of the torque wrench which shows the angle that you have moved the torque wrench through. Another way would be to drop a string and plumb bob from the top of the wheel arch. Line the torgue wrench up with the string and then turn it through the 180 degrees to line back up with the string. A fair bit of force will be required to move the torque wrench through the required angle.
    Don't forget to use a new bolt,
