Hi i am hoping someone can help as i am in a pickle!
The turbo on my a3 2004 tdi 140 recently packed up- i was told they are a common problem on these cars of this year so after speaking to a friend in the motor tuning trade he sugested fitting a turbo from a 170 model as they bolt straight on.
I have bought a almost new new turbo charger/ manifold from a 170 tdi golf part number GT1749VC HGR03G253019N and it does indeed bolt straight on as in manifold to head but the problem i have is the oil in/ out, turbo to intercooler pipe and egr pipe are different. I have given vw the new turbo part numbers as well as the 9 didgit code on the plate and they supplied me with all the neccesary pipes to fit- the problem is the pipes are all wrong. The flanges on the oil pipes are different and the turbo to intercooler pipe is too big at the turbo end.
Has anyone else done this mod? is there an easy way to get the right parts i need? i have my engine code and the codes on the new turbo but not the new turbo engine code as the company who supplied it say its not available. I believe the replacement turbo came from a 2007 golf tdi 170 it has the electronic waistgate ( which i was going to swap over )

Any useful ideas? I cant be the only idiot who has done this
