    Hi..

I am having a problem with my mk4 golf 2l gti..

every now and then the engine rev's are sticking/ goin higher when i take my foot of the accelarator or push the clutch pedal down.

The only way to stop this is to pull over and turn the engine of and re-start (which takes forever and when it does re start there is a strong smell of petrol)

Any idea's what this could be as its happeneing more and more often??

If it had carbs I would say that the flap is sticking open, but as it's a GTI I'd hazard a guess at the throttle body sticking!
Don't know a great deal about injection systems so could be way off the mark but would have a look and see if the TB is gummed up!

It’s on the data sticker inside the front cover of the service book, on the data sticker on the boot floor, on your V5 and on a sticker on the cam belt cover.
