Might sound like a silly question, but when you say backing off in high gear, do you mean leaving the car in gear but taking your foot off the peddle?

And does anyone here have any idea why my car sounds louder than most? Ive taken care of it since ive had it and so have the previous drivers (I assume as it has full service)..
