first off, allow me to impart an experience of mine.... differnt car but relevant all the same

i did a full 32k service on my fiat brava, belt, tensioner, oil, filters, the lot. all was well until the car was turned over, engine management light came on and it was sluggish in low revs.

took the car to an independant, who read the codes , "cam poisition sensors knakerd boss" he said. ok, take me up the *** with your repair, £150 later, he replaced the sensor, fault still remained and light came on 3 miles later.

invesitgated the fault myself, invested in a code reader and trawled forums for a solution, met a very helpful chap who explained all about timing to me.

long and short of it? i sorted ouut the timing, the fault dissapeard and the light never came on again.,...... no fault with the sensor after all.

i suspect you have the same situation, dont always replace the part that is registering a fault, it does not necessarily mean that sensor is faulty.

    look at it this way.....
say you poor hot water on your finger, your finger expresses pain to you, you go ouch and run it under cold water, do you cut your finger off ? no, because you know what caused that pain. now think of your sensor as your finger and the fault code as the pain, whats causing it? thats the way fault codes should usually be treated.

get a friend/mechanic to look at your timing, ill bet you a penny thats whats wrong....
