Passat 1.8t which oil ?

Has anyone used Magnatec from castrol and is it any good.

Castrol is as good as any other branded oil but i did read a article in a motoring journal online that castrol synthetics contain trace amounts of ash(no explanation of what ash) for protection of somesort but this ash is harmfull also in a small way but id use it as synthetic is synthetic so long as its a reputable brand and the correct grade.

I was told years ago not to use Castrol dino oil because of its ash content.

Done the flush/oil change with the shell helix ultra, and the engine sound a lot smoother even though it was smooth before.

Just used a wynns one, would have used a forte if I could have got one tho.
