I've just had the front flexi brake hoses replaced on my passat tdi 110 for the MOT and the brake fluid was replaced too. The brakes aren't quite as sharp as they were, obviously you get used to your brakes fairly quickly, so I'm not so aware of it now. The reseviour has enough fluid in it. I'm assuming this is normal, but can someone explain why? Pads and disks have plenty of life in them too by the way.

    Cheers.

If the new hoses are not as resistant to expansion when under pressure, they will sap away power from the brakes (due to maximum pressure not being applied to the brake pistons). Perhaps they will stiffen up with time?
As for the fluid, I would guess it's fine as it's new and should have been bled properly etc...
