    Hi all

Im sure you have heard this many times but please help! its driving me nuts!

I have gt tdi 130 '02' ASZ 64K golf, and it feels like its lost power
I have recently replaced the intercooler as the old one had holes in it
The car felt great like when i first brought it, the turbo kicks in and you can feel it push u back a little, 2 weeks after the turbo kick has gone!

The car still accelerates but that turbo punch isnt there, the turbo hiss is there and it sounds like the turbo is kicking in but im not seeing the power

The revs dont jump and it still moves just not as it should, after reading hours of threads i replaced the MAF but the car is still the same

the car will still do 100 and over! not that i drive that fast!! but that turbo kick in that you should feel is not there

I have spent money on this car already and dont want to keep throwing money away

Pls help anyone, any ideas?, help is much appreciated!!

    Gib

Possibly Air Mass Meter but you must get a fault code read done first.

Slightly off topic, getting fault codes...

Worth buying a fault code reader, or take it to a dealer?

If you have a lap top, buy a proper registered copy of VAG-COM 805 (now called VCDS) which costs around £260. If you do a lot of work on your own car it will pay for itself. The lesser versions such as 311 or even 409 are not much use on later cars and the shareware version is virtually useless.

It will only read and clear codes and there is more to diagnostics than that. Measuring Blocks and Basic Settings are extremely useful functions and that means VAG-COM. It only reads engine, auto box, ABS and air bag codes so even armed with the fault code you will have a P code and probably not a VAG code cross reference so you will have to scrabble about cross referencing so no, personally I think they are a waste of money.

I know very little about a car engine but you could possibly have a split hose or an air leak an you are loosing turbo boost via the air leak. I have the same car and it happened to mine and a new clip sealed the hose back onto the turbo or intercooler or something and it ran perfectly again. i could well be wrong, just a suggestion tho as I know how frustrating it is

    Hi All

Update on this - my car did have a failed turbo, the turbo had siezed and was all clogged up with black carbon. Once it was taken out it was clear that it had failed. The turb was dificult to spin with my hand and it should spin freely, also the oil seals and bearings in the turbo had failed

After looking everywhere i found a recon turbo with a 12 month warrent for only £275 - absloute bargain as the closest prices i hade before this were about £400 - 500 for a recon and £600 for a new one!

Had it fitted, pipes cleaned, new oile infeed pipe, intercooler cleaned and checked all for about £200 that includes removing the old turbo!

The car now drives better then when i first bought it but i have learned my lesson

Let the car warm up and cool down properly!!

    Thanks

    Ebs
