I've had one of these for about 20 years, and i've never stabbed anyone either, and as we've always been in to camping, i never gave it much thought,
sure its a bit over kill for cutting rope and stuff, but nowadays it remains under my bed gathering dust, as i can just picture the scene.....

Driving down the road on holiday, some copper pulls me over for yet another lame excuse, decides to search my car, finds knife, and calls in the swat team to take me away for being dangerous
We're all living in a nanny state, where we will all be treated like children, any anything dangerous will be taken away from us in case we hurt ourselves or others.

At my company we're not allowed anything sharp incase we cut ourselves...

    No scissors, no knives, nothing.

We have stupid kevlar gloves to wear with kevlar arm protectors should we ever want to stick our hands into some server rack or to pull out a cable...

Obviously we don't use them because there's no way you can do your job wearing big stupid mitts all the time!
