Hi everyone, front wiper mechanism seized, took it off, freed it, cleaned it up, lubricated it, put it back, does anyone know if their are any markers or anything, that line up the linkeage, doing my head in, Cant seem to get it to fall back in the right rest position. I know now i should have put marks on it before i took it off, im no expert, any ideas, Also, is slow speed setting, really slow, thanks all.

Hi there, did you take the wiper spindles out of the housings to clean all of the corrosion out? If you just freed them off with penetrating oil, they may not be free enough, causing your really slow wiper speed.
I tend to clean them out with a scraper or round file before I pack the housings with silicon grease. This reduces the chance of water getting in and causing more corrosion.
As for lining up the linkage, disconnect the linkage from the motor spindle and take the wiper arms off their spindles.
Turn your wipers on intermittent and watch where the spindle stops.(its easier to spot on intermittent). When the motor turns again, switch the wipers off at the stalk. the motor should carry on until it gets to the self cancelling position.(where it stops on intermittent)
You now need to position the cranking arm on the spindle in the correct position. This is usually in line with the connecting link and the link goes directly over the motor spindle.
Try your wipers again to see if the wiper arm spindles work as they should and cancel at the correct position, ie. the point the spindles stop to change direction at the bottom of the wiper sweep.
Now fit your wiper arms and blades and try them.
If something isn't right, stop the wipers immediately by turning the ignition switch off and not by the stalk.
    Hope this helps you out.
