Please could someone direct me to the correct pages in the manuals regarding running in the engine. I cannot find anything.

Are people running them in? I never picked mine up from a dealer so nothing was suggested regarding the correct process. Ive had some fun to see what happens when I press the Fast Peddle but need to be careful now that im into my second day!

I do very little miles so it could take 8-10 months to cover a few 1000 miles so it will be a shame that it will take that long before I can use the car without worry.

Don't have my car but I would follow it....well as much as I can. I normally get within say 100 miles of it and then give up

Heh, I just hit 3k miles today... Having the 3.0TDI, argh, it's so hard not to have fun with it. Hit 70 in 3rd today for example coming off an off ramp from lights, fricking ZOOM!

To be honest, I don't really thrash it around that much, but if I do, it definitely doesn't seem to care one single bit!

I do put V-Power D in it though!!!

And I suspect that a lot depends on whether it is a company car or one that you've had the pain of handing acheque over for...

I fall into the latter category (the way things are going, the A4 will be a family heirloom!)and was told that careful running in would allow the engine to bed in better and would result in marginally better final fuel consumption.

Anyway, have been gentle with it per instructions but that might have to do also with my last VW engine giving up after ...oooh.....3 hours running time! Not my fault, honest guv!

A friend of mine runs a couple of RS4's and he has some equipment that can read the computer stuff on board. He can get print out thats says "warranty void" etc if the engine has been redlined all the time. I dont want one of those going to my manager so Im being careful for the time being! This weather helps as everywhere is just spray!
