I need to change my Alhambra's clutch master cylinder and I can see how it unbolts from the pedal box in the footwell but can not see how to disconnect the pipe from the end of it in the engine bay. I was expecting a 10mm hex union as used on brake pipes but the collar on the pipe is round!

Any one know how it comes off? I assume the Sharan is the same?

    Thanks in anticipation.

Yes I can see that the feed pipe or hose fom the resevoir just clips on but what about the metal pipe that goes to the slave cylinder?

Yes I see it now I have a new one, it is a wire C clip which I can hook out down one of two channels in the side of the body. Great, hear's hoping that it is the master that has gone! Is the slave inside the bell housing and can you tell me how to bleed the system or will it sort itself out?

    Thanks

The slave cyl is just above the starter,it is best to pressure bleed it,if you have the equipement, they can sometimes be a pain to bleed. If you do not have the pressure equipement then you will have to do it the traditional way.You need assistance to do this get someone to pump the pedal while you open the valve on the slave cyl.Press pedal down -- open valve, with the pedal down close the valve, then release the pedal, just continue with this sequence. You will see when there is no more air.Good Luck

Thanks. This is a pig of a job! Got the old one off and seperated from the pedal and got the new one bolted in place then ran out of light and suprise it rained! I wonder if I have replaced the right part, the leak seems to have been coming from the union where the pipe slots into the end of the cylinder. I am guessing there is an o ring on the pipe and I bet that is where the leak was. I also bet that the o ring comes with a new pipe! Anyway I will get it back together in the morning and bleed it then see if it stil sets off on its own with the clutch pedal all the way down!
