Hi, has anyone fitted a parrot blutooth kit to a Mk5 golf? Would be interested to hear if it was straightforward or not, were any other 'bits' needed, any tips you can give and comments in general. Thanks.

    Welcome mate.

Did mine last week on my octavia and it was as simple as 1, 2, 3. Went to do my dads passat and not as easy and cant find a solution yet using the quadlock design.

There are plenty of cable on ebay and from alternative sites, but nothing thats actually states it will work. Im after one for a 2008 passat with a RCD300 to a Parrott CK3100.

Since the VAG group changed to the Quadlock design connection, going away from the ISO connection, many people are struggling to fit parrot kits.

If you find a solution, please let me know.

Thanks, looks like we'll both be looking for the same bit to make it work! I found another member on here showing how to change the radio for a sat nav unit, which had some good photos - looked like it had the 2 iso connectors within the big block fitting? I wondered if they were &, if so, could they be replaced by the parrot iso's? I might take it apart at weekend to have a look but was looking for some encouraging comments first
If I do, i'll update the link. Thanks again.

When i had my dads dash apart the Quadlocks look like they have 2 ISO block in the rear, but on closer inspection they are different.

My dad wants to try the SOT-076 cable, but I'm worried something could go bang.

If myself or dad finds a solution you'll be the first to know.

Have a read through these mate:

There's loads of information on what cables to use on the siocommunications website. But don't necessarily buy from there, I could find much lower prices elsewhere. I used an Autoleads 06-116B Quadlok to Quadlok cable and just spliced into the middle of it - that way no interference with original wiring. Should be the same for yours, but check.

I also fitted a Parrot MultiCAN with the bluetooth kit, this allows you to use the steering wheel buttons with the phone kit if you have them. I fitted the CK3000, which meant I could throw away the Parrot display and have something completely hidden, but if you have a CK3100 this works as well.

You will need a switched live supply, you cannot get this from the back of the radio. Two best options are either to tap into the cigar lighter feed, or just put a spade into an un-fused switched live supply at the fuse box. Either way, you need an in-line fuse close to the source.

Thanks to you both for the info so far. Looks like I'll need this quadlock design connection before i strip the dash out. I'll check that site out teflon, thanks again.

Hi, I've got a Golf Mk5 and I fitted a Parrot 3100 with the help of a SOT-076 adapter cable - this is necessary to change the Parrot's ISO connectors to VW standard. You will also have to find a 12v ignition feed for the Parrot to allow it to switch off with the ignition. I found an empty fuse slot in the Golf that was earmarked for a factory fitted telephone - BINGO! Also with the SOT-076 lead you will be able to attach one of the Parrot's "MUTE" leads to the rear connector - sorry can't remember which one out of three but you can always tag them till one works - there's no voltage, nothing will go "bang". This mute function will then kill the radio or CD - it'll even pause the CD to re-commence on completion of the call, and it will bring up the word "PHONE" on the display and alter the front/rear speaker settings automicatically to give you better clarity. I took my time with this installation and I had to sort out the ignition-12v but I had it done in about an hour. Hope this helps.

BTW it all works like a dream.

Can't remember exactly but about fuse 9 or 10 I think - it's listed in the handbook as a fuse for the telephone. I actually didn't use a fuse in the fuse bay, just connected a wire and then on to an in-line fuse rated at about 2 amps I think. If you've got access to a multimeter then just check any/all of the empty fuse slots for a voltage with ignition on and no volts with ignition off.
