Youl prob get in around 35 to the gallon depending on driving still. The 2 l is a pig of an engine in my opinion with very little pull. Youd be much better going for the 1.8t or 1.6 petrol.

i wouldnt bother, i used to have a 2 litre beetle and round town i would be lucky to achieve 28mpg, and that wasnt driving it hard.

It wasnt very quick either? Either go for a 1.6 (which has a similar 0-60 time) or a 1.8T or TDI.
    2004 Bora TDI 150 Sport

    Bora 2.0

    8.0/100 litre motorway
    10.0/100 litre semi urban
    15-18/100 litre total urban

NOT WORTH IT, i am struglling. In my opinion go for tdi 130 bhp - urban = 5.5 litre/100
VW Bora 1.9 TDI 130 ps, modified to TDI 169 ps.

Got to agree with the others here, mine is a '99 2 ltr SE and it's got to be said the 2 ltr is pants and that is being very polite! It's not really that refined, it's noisey and it's certainly not that quick or economical. I really wish i stumped up the extra cash for a diesel (the only other VW engine i have experience of). The car itself's great though...
