Audi A3 2.0 fsi 2004 coolant sensor

Hello all!

Can anyone tell me the exact location of the engine coolant temperature sender on an A3 2.0 fsi 2004 (engine code axw)

I have had a good look around the engine but can't seem to find the one i need to replace.

in ur engine coolant tank the should be a sensor in there! i would have thought it would be that!

Hi,what side of the cylinder head is it on if i am standing at the front of the car?.
I have posted a picture of the coolant sensor i need to install.

No, that is the coolant shortage indicator switch

Finally got a chance to replace the sensor this morning in between the showers.
Standing in front of the engine,the coolant sensor is on the right hand side of the cylinder head.It is much easier to see if the battery and its case are removed.
It was tricky to actually get my hand on it,but easy to remove.I tied a piece of string around the plastic clip that holds the sensor in place so i couldn't drop it.

Lost a little bit of coolant when i pulled out the old sensor,no more than half a pint though.
Just had the car out for a drive and everything is fine now,the engine management light has gone and the temp gauge works nice and smoothly.

The black arrow in the picture points to the sensor.
