Hi, I have had a 02 Passat TDi estate for about 6mnths, and the CD player has a fault. I get the error message 'Chk MAGAZINE' each time I insert a CD, which is then ejected. There is not a CD changer fitted. I have tried a lens cleaner to no avail. Any Ideas?? The 'Gamma' radio works fine.

I have a nearly new 'Tevion' CD, MP3, radio, which I used in my Peugeot 306 for about a month before I acqured the Passat, and was quite impressed by it. Does anyone know if replacing the 'Gamma' radio unit with the 'Tevion' unit would be straight forward, or are there problems, such as the 'speed volume control' to overcome.
    Thanks in advance, Bob E.

I have a perfect working gamma unit you can have for £10 just has a little corner button missing (I might even manage to find it). No longer have my passat so no need for it. Will be down stockton in next couple of weeks if you want it delivered free.

Should be able to replace the stereo like for like if it has standard ISO plugs on the back, you may lose certain features the speed controlled volume been one of them and also possibly the dimming illumination with headlights.

Hi, Sorry for late reply, your message came through whilst I was on holiday. Do you mean you have a Gamma CD unit or radio (or both), as it is the CD player I am having problems with?

Thanks for advice, I could live with that. I can only give it a try. Cheers.

Hi, Mine started working Ok after a period of not being used. It has occasionally played up again, but it seems to be with certain cds, and starts working ok again after a day or two. I will get round to putting the other unit in that I have at some stage. Sorry I can't help more, Cheers, Bob E
