How to get MP3 files playing on VW RCD 300

Hi, newbie here - so apologies if this question has already been answered elsewhere...

I have recently bought a Golf GT Sport and have downloaded Windows Media Audio files to a CD-R so that the stereo can play them as MP3 files - apart from I get CD ERROR when the stereo tries to read the disc.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Have you tried downloading files in mP3 format as you are currently using WMA? Not sure if it makes a difference, but never had this problem with mine.

How do I convert the files from WMA to MP3?

there maybe an easier way, but i burn them to a rw cd as an audio track then rip it back in to media player as an mp3.
