    iv noticed when changing vw standard head units to after market ones i cant seem to save function eg. when engine is turned off and key taken out i lose all imformation and the head unit restarts as if new, can anyone help? happen on my mk3 golf and passat b5? iv bought proper iso plugs but still no joy, iv never had a problem with previous cars its just the vw's!

    hi i had this problem had to get my local spark to change some wiring did not cost much

    The permanent and ignition switched live cables are reversed to normal ISO wiring on VW's.

    What you need to do is simply change over these cables (usually yellow & red respectively) to enable your stereo to function correctly.

    Some adaptor looms will have the facility to un-plug and plug these cables to reverse them.
