    Hi all,
Can you help me? I've got an AUDI 80 1.9TDI. my warning light and buzzer keeps coming on over 2000rpm. have checked oil pressure, it is spot on and apparently there is an oil temp switch suspect this might be faulty, as there is no manual available, can anyone tell me where the oil temp sensor is located??

    Thanks guys !!!

The oil temp sender is not connected to the dynamic oil pressure warning system. What oil pressure reading did you get?

    Thanks for replying
the oil pressure reading is 70+ at 3000rpm when oil is hot. 1.5bar on tickover, have disconnected oil pressure sender but oil light and buzzer still come on over 2000rpm.

The spec is 2 bar (approx 60psi) at 2000 rpm at 80°c using 15w/40 oil so I think you should be will in there. What is the year and engine code? If you have an oil pressure gauge on the car you have a sender with two positions and a grey switch as well. On the pressure sender, there are two connections, one that says G and one that says WK, what is the colour of the wire going to WK?

I suggest you change both switches.

Have a similar problem with my M registered Avant SE 2.0 l

This model does have the extra set of 3 gauges [ie] battery charging, oil temperature and, most fortunately, an oil pressure gauge.

The red oil warning light comes on intermittently and when it does the reading on the rev counter immediately falls to nil [ie] appears to be non functioning.

As soon as the red oil warning light goes off, then the rev counter starts working normally again.

Throughout the intermittent red oil warning light faulting, the oil pressure gauge functions normally.

    Any advice appreciated

Had the same problem with my 1.9tdi 80 93". I would do a motorway drive with everything going fine. turn the engine off then continue the drive and after 2000 or so rpm the red oil light goes on. I took it to a mechanic and he saidthat the oil sensor switch or something had slipped down somewhere in the engine and this was causing it.

    thanks
