    Hi all and anyone!

Am new to this and signed up to see if anyone can help..
I've recently bought an Audi A3 2004 model.
Will I be able to get something fitted to this model to play an ipod touch 2nd gen?
I've been looking on the internet but it's all too confusing for me, talking about MMI.. What's that... 'a whole other question says you'

Anyway if anyone can help would be v happy

Depending on the phone prep or bluetooth its 5150 or 5140.If your dealer will let you then the cd rom is about £4 and its part number is 8T0 906 961.WARNING if the phone prep sw version is lower than 900 it can crash when updating which means you need to fit a new bt unit.

I'll buy the CD, still havent got the car yet so I'll check out the BT S/W version on Monday.

Would you do the update before or after adding the AMI? Sorry for all the Q's - just getting to grips with MMI after years of RNS-E use!

I would post the sw version first.Select Radio then press set up and return at the same time and hold until the hidden menu come up on the screen, select the scroll to the top of the list and press the rotary knob this will then open the controller and display the hw and sw version, post them and i will tell you if you need to update the system to allow ami.To be honest i would let the dealer take the risk as they would have to replace the bt unit if it crashes. Also if you do consider updating the mmi record all the adaption channels before and re input after as the update changes some functions and deletes some also like battery monitor.I will give you the adaption channel list closer to the time.

    Right ho'

BT S/W appears to be 0950 and MMI S/W is 4220.

I believe 4220 supports AMI so shall I chuck it into the car?

Also I have obtained a DAB module, ever fitted one? Will it have 'component protection' when installed do you think?

I have a reciept for it so Audi should remove protection ok shouldnt they?

ok your MMI sw is fine, contact craigyb for the Dab as i have not retro fitted this as of yet,i would say the cp my well be active but also when ever you replace or add to the mmi network you should update the system to gain full functionality as if the DAB unit is a low sw version it may/could affect its performance. To add your bt unit is the safe sw version and unlikely to crash when updating the mmi.Good luck Issac, feel free to ask for any further help
