Now connect the ami unit to the multi plug on the retro fit loom and connect your vag com
    go to address 56
go to function 07 code control unit then open up the long code helper and change byte 11
    Attachment 6765

    go to address 19
go to installation list and scroll down until you see media position 3
    tick the box and save
    Attachment 6766

go to auto scan and run it then clear down all fault codes

connect your ipod and and then wait a few mins

select the media button on your radio and you will see the icon for AMI

    select it and play

the picture shows empty because no ipod connected but the ami selection will light up and list the name of the ipod etc

If everything is working reassemble and ask your local audi dealer to make the code changes permanent by connecting vas 5051/2 online connection and sending the reto fit conversion svm code to the fazzet server otherwise any work shop visits were the vas diagnostic is connected may well wipe the code changes plus the server needs the feed back to see the spec for future workshop actions

Thanks
There is currently a adapter cable for gen 4 as the voltage needs converting from 12 volt to 5 volt.I will post the part number for the lead

Do you know if this would be the same for a 55 plate (oct 05) A6 3.0 tdi quattro, same setup MMI High with sat nav, and 6 cd in glove box.

MMI updated itself after I loaded the 2009 Nav dvd.

    Cheers

Yes it should be fine but check with your local audi parts as the numbers may have super seeded.
The nav update only updates the nav head unit, to update the MMI you need to flash the system via the 6 disc cd player.
Select radio then press and hold set up and return until you see the engineering menu then click on the first setting to display the current software configuration

    Hi A8,

I'm new here and I really hope you can help me. I have scoured the internet to find an answer to my question but have failed to find a clear answer in plain english. So, I'm really hoping that you will be able to help me, providing you haven't lost the will to live yet with all these questions
My wife has just bought a 2004 reg A3 2.0l FSI and it has a single din Audi Concert head unit with Bose speakers and Bose coming up on the screen when you turn it on. The car has no steering wheel controls.
She has the latest Ipod nano (4th generation) and she wants to play it through her head unit.
So, what on earth do I need to buy her in order for this to happen? Any links to an ebay item or such like would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks indeed
    Andy

    Hello Andy

    Two options I would recommend

audi IPOD kit which retails around £100 but you need the gen 4 additional lead

    How it works
iPod preparation connects via the CD changer controls and is controlled in the same way; using the buttons on the radio or navigation system with MMI operating logic. This prevents the simultaneous operation of a CD changer and iPod adapter, as they share the same radio connection.

Existing playlists on the iPod are identified as CDs and displayed as CD1-CD5 in the changer controls. All tracks stored on the iPod are identified as CD6. The iPod preparation is unable to process information stored on the iPod for the artist, track, album and genre, but the current playlist, the current track and the track duration will appear in the radio display or navigation system display with MMI operating logic.

    dension

    http://www.dension.com/products.php?productID=9

the problem with the gen 4 nano is the charge circuit and for the Audi kit you need additional cables, nit sure about the dension but the nano charge circuit differs from the earlier gen Ipod

I will check the gen 4 lead part number and cost

    Hope that helps

    Regards A8

Thats excellent help A8 thanks. I will probably go down the Audi ipod kit route so any part numbers will be very much appreciated Are they something I could buy online do you think or should I just go to an Audi dealer and ask for them?

    Many thanks

Best bet, pop into Audi and ask for the ipod kit for your vehicle but remind them you have a nano gen 4 so you need the additional 5 v lead. The part number can be found on etka or using elsa pro tpi.The Technical product information document addresses the gen 4 charging issue but unfortunately I don't have the document to hand.Regards A8

Hi - Please, has anyone had any problems fitting a Denison 500 Ice Link Dual F.O.T. I have an 2005 A6 with MMI Basic (red one) and a single CD player (not a multi-changer). I have fitted it with option 2 in the following instructions and joined the red/blue wire from the existing CD player.

    http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s...30_01_2008.pdf

However the unit seems to have a power problem as it comes on for about 30 seconds then powers off. I can keep pressing the reset button but it keeps switching off. Whichever way i put the switch - I still only get the existing CD until it powers off. Sometimes i loose the sound too.

So have i just configured it incorrectly AND/OR could the unit be faulty?

Pulling hair out now - All help gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance

    Dave
