We have been trying to work out why members of this site seem to have no real interest in any shows, events, and competitions that we have tried to do.

On bank holiday Monday we had the tolling road event at R.S Tuning, which had very little turnout from this site, we were out done by the chaps from Briskoda.

Eshrules has a cracking competition running again with very few entries so far...

    Why is this?

    What do you want?

How can we get you more interested?

For instance if we can get around 20 guaranteed cars to turn up, R.S.Tuning would welcome us to another rolling road event in the near future..

Who would be interested in this? BUT we would need a 100% commitment from anyone who would put there name down.... no good 20 putting names down, then less than half turning up.

I am in the position to as Forge to help with a competition prize, but we need the entries...

Please let me know why we have this lack of interest.... We all want to take this site to the next level, but we need more input from our members..

    I await your replies

For some folk, like me, it's just distance. A lot of things I read about such as road rolling days always seem to be in England. Too far for me to travel and much too expensive with the cost of fuel.

I agree and accept that this will be the case for a majority of our members, we did think about having regional representatives to help arrange events, or arrange attendance in regions.. this is still an option..

We would split the country up into areas..

Same here Stu... Distance is a major factor. That and the fact that I seem to be at work when everyone is having fun...

I would have loved to attend the RR day, but again it was purely down to distance.

i think your latest move to put a big notice of current competition is a good move, im sure that most of the time, the comp threads just get totally missed by the members. also i think with this type of forum, you are likely to have a huge member "turnover". someone joins, posts a problem, problem gets answered/solved, member is never seen again. i generally lurk in forums for a while to get a feel for the place before joining, and then stay around and join in.

also in regards to the current comp, i will enter, but there is still almost a month to run before closing. for my entry to be "current" or more topical, i may choose to wait until closer to the closing date, as the current bolox talk may have moved on from lawnmowers, to something else (nitrous powered sail elephants or something?). anyway i digress.

ultimately my tardiness in competition entry is probably that i generally attend this place at work, and while i can get away with posting, image manipulation cant really be done without being noticed, and i keep forgetting when im at home.

when i first joined, there was another photo comp, but i felt to n00b to enter, thats my problem, but maybe others may feel the same? possibly intimidated by longer standing or more vocal members.

I'd have to agree there. I think many people jump on here during spare minutes (or hours...) at work. I rarely have time at home. Loving on my own you hav washing, cleaning, cooking, ironing, oh you get the message... it's all to be done.

I'd also agree with the bit about people wanting to get involved because some members are more vocal. I tend to get stuck in whenever I find something I can talk about (whether it's "bolox" or not! ). Many people tend to keep their mouths shut unless they have something interesting or worthwhile to say.

This is where I think the regional thing would come in! Regional events would certainly get people together, then twice a year (or something) have a VWAF meet smack bang in the centre of Britain (Not England!) if possible and if the event can be held wherever! At first thoughts I'm thinking North of England...?

    Agree x2

Unfortunately I have little time out of work to browse the forum, anyway after spending all day in front of a monitor, it's the last thing I want to do at home.

P.S. Odie, I'd be wary of saying "Loving on my own" around here
Nothing to see here, move along..

Thanks for your comments so far, I appreciate that you all have home life, and would not take this away from anyone

As I read so far, we have seen that the option to have "regions" is a good thing....

I will make the competitions and events more prominent with the notice method and the schroll option across the top...

Keep your iseas coming.. We only do this site for the benefit of you, the Members Oh and I suppose a bit of fun...

I must say, this new idea of promoting Esh's competition at the top of each page has really made me sit up and pay attention to it. I've now entered that competition... albeit maybe not very well.

I keep saying how I would like to go to RR days etc, but the wife doesn't want me to spend £300 on a re-map seen as she drives it most of the time and sees it as perfect as it is. Due to the re-map idea now being out of the window, an RR session seems slightly pointless.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to attend such sessions ! I would like to meet you guys !

My son says he's going to register on here when he gets a car (in about 6-12 months), some of you members already know him. He's a bit of a petrol head and I know he would come along to such sessions and events !
