I'm looking at getting a custom Remap done by Sanspeed Bexleyheath along with a Dyno session. Has anyone else used these chaps for this purpose?

I've used them for any bits I needed done to the car in the past as well as servicing and they are top notch in that respect, however, tuning is something I'd rather get other people's opinions on.

I'm not happy with the idea of sending my ECU off and not having a RR to verify the results/tweak with so this seems like a possible solution. Opinions appreciated!

    Hi Solari.
Can't comment on Sanspeed as never used them, however you can get reliable remaps done instead of chipping the ECU. Revo technik do a good power hike so does a custom remap.

Just a bit of info, hope it helps.

I've not heard about Sanspeed to be honest but I wouldn't recommend a "load and go" or generic remap, where you get your ECU "flashed". All engines are different (tolerences etc) so make sure that whoever tunes your car does it with a rolling road. What engine do you have? Have you done any engine mods etc? I have a AGU 1.8t with a K04 (from S3) so finding a trustworth tuner was difficult. I decided on AMD in the end and the car is great @ 275 bhp... You'll find lot's of coverage on this topic by searching the forums.

    Good luck!

Our stage 1 is £265.00 all in for members.

Custom mapping depends on your set up.

What are your current mods on the car?

It's a completely standard 2002 1.8T GTI. No mods at all. I was just toying with getting a bit more grunt out of it for fun but I'm a bit nervous about extra wear and tear on the Turbo and Clutch in particular Bringing it up to around the 180bhp mark would make me happy as I'm sure these engines won't struggle (is the anniversary edition the same engine with a different map?).

Just stick to reputable tuners who don't rely purely on bumping up boost to gain power.

Turbo and clutch will be fine with correct mapping. We always develop software to be smooth, and therefore hold a stronger torque band across the rev range

Cheers - Quite impressive figures on your website. shame you're up in Wolverhampton That's a fair bit of a trek and I've done far too many epic journeys lately!

If anyone could recommend somewhere within an hour or so's drive from Dartford, that would be ace! Closer the better - my thinking is that if I do get any issues, I'll easily be able to get the car back to the place that did the work.

    Thanks again!
