    I would love VAG com but can't afford £252 at the mo... So which of these is best (just as something to read fault codes and do a few other useful things)? I have an 04 A3 2.0TDi and an 05 Cab 1.8T quattro.

    vag com is the best aftermarket tool
    but it depends on what you whant to do
    i have a vag1552 gen VW
    also i have a autel vas5053
    they do the job but are limited even the vag1552 is out of date
    im am going to order a vag com at some stage

    You want the first one. as its tailored to the VAG car codes.

    Then save for the real deal you should be able to sell it on when you upgrade, the Ross-Tech cable isn't CAN bus compatible and i think your 05 Audi is CAN and not the older style connection.
