    Hi All,

    I've got a 2004 Bora 150 Sport with the Gamma Radio/Cassette and in-dash 6CD multichanger.
    I used to have a 2002 Saab 9-5 with AS2.

The sound quality in the Bora seems very poor and the clarity of sound is dreadfull. However much I change the bass and treble to try to counteract it I still find the sound very flat. I don't need massive bass, just good quality audio.

Does anyone have any suggestions, I don't know if it's the head unit (which I think is usually quite good in VAG cars) or the speakers themselves?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as it's driving me crazy!

Both the speakers and head unit will be quite poor. Change the speakers first and see if there is much improvement. Then change the head unit.
My rides: 2015 Passat Estate SE Business 150PS and a 2011 Fabia vRS.

I've just changed the speakers in my '05 golf.
I had already changed the head unit to an alpine unit but was unhappy with the sound, now I have new speakers fitted Im more than happy.

Be aware if your front doors are like mine they have 3 speakers each, I had the bass and tweeter replaced inc the crossover (had the mid removed) and has made a big difference

Excellent Thanks. Good to know it's not just me then. I wondered if it was a wise thing to do questioning VW quality.

Time to start googling speakers then!

I opted for a stealth shelf and 6x9's in the back because I have the 3 door and would have been a huge job to get the rears changed due to the way the back panel with the speaker is mounted.
The place I used had not done a 3 door golf.
It's a door cards off job as the grill is non removable and actually smaller than the speaker behind it.
Be aware the cross over is in there quite well hidden as well.
