My glove box locking mechanim broke recently and VW wanted to charge £168 for a replacement !!!!, so not wanting to pay that sort of money I did a bit of research and found the following link which perfectly describes how to fix the broken latch mechanism:

    http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3836558

Works a treat and takes no more than 15 minutes from start to finish, all you need is a flat blade screwdriver, a sturdy wallpaper scrapper and some araldite....and a few g clamps or gaffa tape to hold the bits together whilst gluing back together.

Same fix for Golf Mark IV as well as the Bora.

    Good luck

I got one from the scrapyard for £5. You would not believe how many MK4 VAGs they have there!
