    is this actually possible? iv seen on ebay some programs claiming you can remap using obdii? seems interesting but has any1 actually tried it on here....iv got an elm 327 cable but can anyone confirm its possible please? check the link

    Yes you can map your car via the OBD socket, mine was done by superchips this way - its the way most re-maps are done.

    However you'd have to be INSANE to re-flash your ECU with a program costing 4 pounds from Ebay.

    What proof do you have that these maps/programs have been tested properly? The chance of your car/engine/turbo/ECU being permanently damaged is pretty much a certainty!!

    Ask them what warranty they offer when your car blows up?!

    has anyone got a guide to the way i would do the re map please? im going to try it on a mk3 golf tdi 1st then if successfull move onto my passat b5 tdi se

    I dont think you can re-flash a mk3 golf, you'd need to solder a new chip into the ECU. I dont even think Mk3's have a proper OBD port to be honest!

    The Golf 3 post 95 has the port but you can’t flash them. Be very careful what you put in the Passat, many engines have been wasted recently by amateurish re-mapping.
